Cuba is Japan - The Conflict At Mactan / Pigafetta's Dream 7"

Darcy Pimblett: Guitar. Vocals.
James Heenan: Piano. Violin. Vocals
Cameron Potts: Drums.

This 7" single represents two songs, or scenes from the forthcoming album, 'Canvas'. The album is a conceptual set of 13 songs inspired by the first circumnavigation of the Earth from 1520- 22 by the Portuguese explorer, Ferdinand Magellan.

Scene 2: 'Pigafetta's Dream' is in refrence to Antonio Pigafetta, an Italian Merchant who sailed with the fleet and kept a diary of the journey. It is through this that we know about the expedition. He was one of only 13 to arrive home alive from an original 257.

Scene 10: 'The Conflict At Mactan' is inspired by the Death of Commander Magellan at the hands of Lapu Lapu Warriors in what is now the modern day Philippines, in 1521.

Cuba is Japan is from Melbourne and the first listen reminds on a folky version of Kings of Leon on the vocal part. But it's different in music. Cinematic folk music with bits of Krautfolk.
