Ólafur Arnalds
Living Room Songs
Genre: modern classical, instrumental, post-rock
Label: Erased Tapes
Now that it´s getting darker and colder, it´s time for the fitting music, that is a bit more quiet and also, yes, i have to write that, melancholy.
Ólafur Arnalds seems to be the right one for that, so he released this wonderful series of living room songs. As the name suggests, they have been recorded in the living room of his apartment in Reykjavik within one week. So each day means a new song.
You can download all of them or watch as the whole process of recording emerged here.
And of course there will be the possibility to receive a physical release of "Living Room Songs" at the Erased Tapes shop. (As I know that they release some of the best contemporary classical/post-rock music like Peter Broderick, Nils Frahm or Codes in the Clouds, it´s no shame to make a little advertising for them ;-) e.g. you have to check out A Winged Victory for the Sullen, a collaboration between Adam Wiltzie of Stars of the Lid and Dustin O´Halloran, who released some of my favourite ambient/neoclassical albums, hear a little preview here)
