To dwell upon this subject, here´s another great singer-songwriter. This time it´s Aidan Knight from Canada.
His music is not that lo-fi or folky as this of other singer-songwriters like the before mentioned Tom Christie or Liam the Younger.
Firstly, due to the instrumentation it sounds a lot more homogenously and unified like a whole band and not that sparsely guitar+voice-duo which is often typical for (folk) singer-songwriters. Secondly, it has a more let´s say melancholy touch, because of the piano and the sometimes slow/quiet sound itself.
His first release "First Takes" is available for free at bandcamp. It contains the 2 wonderful melancholly ballads "Jasper" and "Altar Boys".
They are also on Aidans first LP "Versicolour", but with the altered "Jasper" as a shorter and country-singalong-version. You can buy (name your price) the album at bandcamp, too. What an offer! It´s really worth it. My personal favs are among others the 2 amazing songs "The Sun" and "North East South West".
